The Social Centre St. Ambrose, whose offices are located in the Child Jesus Parish is a project set up by the sisters of the American Maryknoll missionary congregation and whose activities are divided into three main parts.
The first part concerns the education of youth. The center supports about 150 children in four primary schools in the area, and 80 students in secondary schools. It also runs a literacy program in the Child Jesus Parish, a small nursery school (Saint Andrew Dung Lac) near the church of St. Mary in Tu Taing, and finally two centers for children in Prek Toul and Prek Ta Kong, two very poor southern suburbs of Phnom Penh, where children receive the morning classes and play in the afternoon.
The second part concerns the measures of hygiene and health care, especially in Prek Toul and other disadvantaged areas. For example, courses on hygiene and accompaniment of sick people to the hospital.
The last part finally provides a financial support to the poorest, who could not live without such support.
